It’s incredible how the younger generation pays so much attention and focus to body sculpts and their overall appearance. People are believed to be more attractive when you’re looking and feeling in top form. This has destroyed expectations to the point that getting the job you’ve always wanted or receiving respect is affected by it. It’s become overpowering that eating your body out and not being resentful appears to be a great reward. In the end, being overweight isn’t a big deal to you in any way.

But… Doesn’t it, really?

There are many positive effects and crucial roles that fat plays within the body. It assists in maintaining healthy hair and skin as well as having an impact of cushioning tissues and organs and can also act as immune boosters to shield your body from illnesses for a few examples. As the saying goes, all excess isn’t healthy. The excess body fat can have many serious consequences for our bodies, some of which you may have heard or experienced, while others are too unexpected.

Table of Contents

  • 1. Sleeping with fat is a nightmare
  • 2. You develop bone problems
  • 3. Greater risk of heart-related problems
  • 4. Your DNA has been altered
  • 5. Your memories get impaired
  • 6. Skin damaged
  • 7. Lower Body Temperature
  • 8. Your chances are higher of being depressed.

1. Sleeping with fat is a nightmare

Have you heard that sleep apnoea is a problem? It’s a sleep disorder that causes breathing to be interrupted during the night. Yes, it can occur to you. The oxygen levels fall and can affect a variety of aspects of your body and increase your chance of developing other diseases. This is just one among the many.

2. You develop bone problems

Your risk is higher for osteoporosis. Women who are overweight have been believed to be protected from fractures, bone loss and osteoporosis. But, new research has proved this is not the case. In a research study that was released in 2014 in Clinical Cases in Mineral and Bone Metabolism the study claimed that body fat that is too high particularly in the middle within the body creates inflammation-related cytokines that can increase bone friction and decrease the health of bones.

Although osteoporosis is most commonly linked to women, men who are overweight are as well at risk. Additionally, children who are overweight are also at risk of developing fragile bones from an early age.

3. Greater risk of heart-related problems

We’ve all heard of it. The excess body fat can pose numerous dangers, including the most frequently encountered heart problem. Hypertension, strokes and the list goes on. However, with stroke being among the most prevalent cause of death it’s an issue that is often put under the spotlight. The heart isn’t able to handle the load of your body. Obesity affects the main functions your body performs to ensure your survival.

What else could go wrong?

4. Your DNA has been altered

Have you ever thought about the fact that the fat in your body can alter the DNA of your family? It’s crazy, but it’s true. You don’t have to be overweight to suffer these negative consequences. It seems that the effects of excess fat is felt throughout the brain’s core cells, which is the DNA. Certain genes responsible for memory loss are no longer functioning properly. So…

5. Your memories get impaired

Degenerative changes to the hippocampus which is a brain structure that is crucial in the creation of memories, are being investigated and anomalies were observed. The cells in your brain are also damaged! The memory of your brain can be impaired and you could see a decline in your performance over time.

Then, are fats around the waist to blame for all of your insanity?

6. Skin damaged

You might have guessed it. Stretch marks. But it’s not only that. There’s also darkening and thickening of the skin as well as irritation, swelling and more. They’re not just cosmetic issues. Keep in mind that your skin’s not just intended to improve your beauty or general appearance. It’s the most important protection for your bloodstream, it safeguards you from infectious agents as well as other threats from the outside.

The simplest of things may surprise you or cause you to be concerned.

7. Lower Body Temperature

You may have thought a guess is actually the truth. People who are overweight (or even overweight people) have been shown having lower temperatures in their bodies. You feel hotter, or sweat more easily , when compared to people who have a normal body fat percentage as well as to people with smaller amounts of fat.

It’s not only about feeling warmer, but the body temperature affects the entire process of your body, including metabolism. When I refer to metabolism, it doesn’t just refer to eliminating poop from your system. It’s about getting all the nutrition your body requires in order to burn calories as well as other reactions inside your body that are necessary to ensure proper functioning.

8. Your chances are higher of being depressed.

There’s been a long-running love affair between weight gain and depression. Depression is the cause of weight gain, and obesity triggers depression. This is a sad love story.

According to studies, overweight people are 25percent more likely to suffer from depression and other mood disorders. Being self-conscious, feeling marginalized from society and so on are believed as major contributors to depression. These are common for those who are overweight. Furthermore, the most common illnesses that are connected to depression are conditions that are common among people with greater body fat percentages including hypertension and diabetes.
