When I was growing up, my father took me to one of his dental colleagues for a checkup. I was about eight years old and nervous because I had never been to a doctor before – but there didn’t seem to be anything too serious going on with me at that time. While we were sitting in an examination room, my father turned to me and said something along these lines (I can only remember it being worded in exactly such a manner): Son, do you want to be president of your country?

After graduating with honors, Dr. Billmeyer went to Duke University in Durham, North Carolina where he completed his medical degree and continued his education at Duke’s School of Medicine and later the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in North Carolina. He completed three years of training in a general surgery residency program at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) in Washington, DC, and later served as chief resident during his final year. After graduating from GUMC, Dr. Billmeyer began a one-year urology residency program at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland (JHU). He is currently on staff there as an associate professor of urology at JHU’s Division of Urology under Drs. David Miklos and Reza Kouchakinejad .
