Introduction
A duller appearance can be caused by aging and damage to the skin. Professional facials are a great option to treat most skin problems. A laser facial is a great option if you are looking for a radiant complexion without dark patches or scarring. Johns Hopkins Medicine claims that laser skin resurfacing can gently remove damaged skin cells, revealing healthier and more vibrant skin beneath. This technique is also called the laser peel. It uses exfoliation to remove top layers of skin to treat blemishes and acne scars.
This treatment can be performed using different types of lasers
We offer three types of laser skin treatments at The Bombay Skin Clinic. These are:
Non-ablative –
This laser procedure is used to reduce minor scarring, wrinkles, or brown spots. The laser heat is used to treat the areas that are being treated. It does not cause any damage to the skin’s surface. This procedure improves your skin’s health and firmness by stimulating collagen production. Microthermal treatment areas are small columns that are placed on the skin to deliver heat deep into the skin. This does not affect the unaffected surrounding skin. Although the procedure requires multiple sessions, it is one of the safest. The laser uses a wavelength of 1064nm to reach pigment cells, allowing for the removal of sunspots. It also stimulates collagen production, improving skin texture and tone. The dual action is a great way to rejuvenate your entire skin.
Ablative –
The ablative laser facial procedure can be used to treat the signs of aging on your face. This procedure uses a strong laser wavelength to light the damaged layer of your facial skin. This procedure resurfaces the skin to reveal a healthier, younger layer. This procedure increases collagen production which makes the skin firmer and smoother. Laser ablative can be used to treat mild wrinkles, acne scars, uneven skin tone, age spots, sun damage, freckles, and moderately severe skin conditions like age spots. The treatment is not permanent. As you age, your skin will show more wrinkles and spots. You will need to treat them in the future.
Photo facials –
This is an alternative name for the Intense pulse light (IPL), treatment. This treatment is very effective and can reduce or cure age spots, sunburn, freckles birthmarks, varicose, rosacea, sun damage, sunburns, sunburns, sunburns, and other skin conditions. Different wavelengths of light can be released by the IPL device that can penetrate the second layer of skin. There are some side effects to this procedure, such as bruising, blistering, and changes in skin tone. The procedure is quick and does not take long. To achieve the desired results, it will take several sessions.
Preparations before the treatment
You will need to consult with our clinic before you decide on a laser facial. To determine if you have cold sores or fever blisters, the doctor will ask about your skin health. This will help determine if you are a suitable candidate. Because of the potential interference with treatment and recovery, you will be asked to quit smoking and stop taking medications like ibuprofen, vitamin E supplements, and aspirin. Smoking can cause delays in your recovery. You will need to quit smoking two weeks before and after the procedure.
The steps involved in the treatment
Your face will first be cleaned and then a carbon-based chemical peel will be applied. An advanced Q-switched laser device is used to rejuvenate the skin. For your comfort, you will receive a soothing and hydrating treatment. A brightening mask can also be used to give your skin a radiant glow.
First, clean your face thoroughly before you can use the ablative laser procedure. A numbing cream will be applied. The laser is applied to the entire face after removing the numbing lotion. Slight erythema may be observed. It is not painful and will cause slight tingling. Then, apply instant ice and then a repair cream. After applying sunscreen, a cold aloe vera gel or repair cream is generously applied to the skin. To prevent complications, a mild corticosteroid cream can be applied to the skin if there are blisters.
After treatment, what are the results?
To achieve the desired results, you will only need one session for the ablative treatment. Non-ablative laser treatment, on the other hand, requires several sessions to achieve the same results. You can expect to see a significant reduction in wrinkles and other signs of aging, although the results will vary depending on how severe the condition is.
There are risks involved in the treatment
Laser facials can sometimes cause side effects. Burns, scarring, and changes in skin color are some of the most common side effects. Laser peels should only be performed by a dermatologist who is experienced. This will reduce the chance of side effects. This can be done in our clinic.
How often should you have a treatment?
To achieve the best results with the ablative laser skin-resurfacing treatment, you don’t need to do more than one procedure. The non-ablative procedure for laser skin resurfacing will require multiple visits to your doctor. The downtime is minimal and the effects are durable. The treatment will be required again if your skin becomes damaged by aging or at a later age.
Follow these steps after the facial
Harvard Health Publishing states that it will take a few weeks for your skin to heal completely from the laser facial treatment. You will need to be extra careful with your skin during this time. You must use sunscreen that has a minimum of 30 SPF during the day. This will make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Your skin must be hydrated.
