In 1883, Peralta went on a tour in northern Mexico. She, along with her 76 fellows, fell ill with yellow fever at her arrival in Mazatlán. She was on her deathbed for quite some time and married her long-loving boyfriend on the same bed.
Although she couldn’t do anything else rather than nod her head. Eventually, she died after fighting the disease at the age of 38. Moreover, after 50 years of her death, her remains were moved from Mazatlán to Mexico City.
